Meet Mark

Hi, I’m Mark Stremler. All my 58 years have been spent living here in Whatcom County, 44 of those years in District 4. I was born and raised on Stremler Dairy, a 4th generation farm located in north Lynden. My parents taught me to work hard at everything I did and be thankful for the results of my labor. I attended Ebenezer Christian School through 8th grade and then moved on to Lynden Christian for my 4 yrs of high school.

I married my high school sweetheart Shari, and we just celebrated 41 years. Together we raised 4 amazing children, making our family a top priority in those busy years. We also felt led to become foster parents and for 13 years we provided a safe transitional home for over 100 children.

I owned Stremler Dairy with my dad and two highlights of our partnership were the honor of being named Whatcom County Dairy Family in 1989 and then being awarded Washington State Dairy Family the following year. After 12 years of farming, I became a general contractor. I enjoyed working throughout the county for homeowners and some of the local farmers. Currently, I am employed with Whatcom County Public Works.

My faith is important to me and my family and we have attended and been active in various local churches over the years. Our kids are now grown and they and their families all live here in Whatcom County. In this season of my life, I am looking ahead and am excited for an opportunity to serve the people of District 4. My roots are deep in this county, and I’ll do whatever I can to bring back the values we all hold dear.
